Vidullanka PLC's proposed LKR500 million listed secured sukuk has been assigned an expected national long-term rating of 'A+(lka)(EXP)' by Fitch; proceeds will refinance short-term loans and fund working capital. Hatton National Bank is the trustee for the issuance.
Vidullanka PLC reported PAT of Rs.1.34 billion on revenue of Rs.4.7 billion for the nine months to 31 Dec 2024, a 27% increase year-on-year. Finance costs fell to Rs.266m and the group paid Rs.0.50 cash plus Rs.1.20 scrip per share (total Rs.1.6bn), citing strong hydropower, EPC and solar contributions.
Colombo bourse sustained upward momentum as the ASPI rose 0.4% and the S&P SL20 gained 0.3% on turnover of Rs.6.35 bn; BIL, RICH, HNB, CFIN and LOLC were top positive contributors while JKH fell. Foreign investors were net sellers with a Rs.300 mn outflow.
Fitch recalibrated Sri Lanka’s national rating scale, upgrading seven non-financial corporates (including Sri Lanka Telecom to AA-(lka), Windforce to A+(lka) and Resus Energy to A-(lka)) and revising Bogawantalawa Tea Estates to BBB+(lka).

Vidullanka PLC inaugurated the 0.7MW Moco Moco Mini Hydropower Plant in Guyana on 13 Dec 2024, completing work under its $12.85m EPC contract. Together with the completed 1.5MW Kumu plant the projects total 2.2MW and are expected to deliver up to 13.76 GWh annually.

Banking stocks led turnover (34%) while quarterly results boosted PARQ, CONN and JETS, Sampath and Pan Asia were active, and Vidullanka announced an interim dividend of Rs.0.20 per share.
