Colombo bourse fell with the ASPI down 1.06% and S&P SL20 down 1.14%, while net foreign inflow was Rs. 188.1 million. Banking led turnover (25%) and several stocks (SAMP, COMB, CINS, RICH, NDB) were top negative contributors; JKH, HHL and BIL recorded small gains.
Colombo market notched a 21st consecutive gain as the ASPI rose 1% (148 pts) to 15,168 on turnover of Rs.5.5bn, led by banking-sector activity; top contributors and heavy turnover included Hayleys, Central Finance, C T Holdings, Sampath, Richard Pieris, Commercial Bank, Royal Ceramics and Browns Investments.
Bank-led rally lifted the ASPI 0.66% as the banking sector drove 63% of turnover with top contributors including Sampath Bank, Hatton National Bank, Richard Pieris, Dipped Products and DFCC. Turnover was Rs.3.6bn and there was a net foreign outflow of Rs.119.7m.
Colombo's ASPI briefly touched 13,000 while turnover rose to Rs. 4.3 billion as markets rallied ahead of parliamentary elections. The banking sector led turnover and counters such as John Keells, Richard Pieris, C T Holdings, Bukit Darah and DFCC were among top contributors.

Haycarb PLC’s Deputy MD Brahman Balaratnarajah was re-elected IASL Chairman for 2024/25 at the Industrial Association of Sri Lanka's 33rd AGM on Aug 9, 2024. The AGM highlighted the industrial sector's role and named an Executive Committee including PGP Glass, Lion Brewery, Richard Pieris, Ex-Pack, Swadeshi and Ceylon Tobacco.
Colombo market closed up Friday with the ASPI +0.44% to 11,303 on turnover of Rs. 403.3m, though the week ended with losses (ASPI -1.2%, S&P SL20 -2.0%). Top contributors included Sampath, Richard Pieris, Aitken Spence, LOLC, Access Engineering and John Keells, while Commercial Bank edged down slightly.
The ASPI rose 42 points (0.4%) to 11,294 as the Colombo market closed marginally higher on turnover of Rs. 582 million. Gains in John Keells, Richard Pieris, HNB, BIL and others supported the rise, turnover was led by JKH and capital goods, banking and F&B sectors, while foreigners net sold Rs. 20.6m.
