Colombo market hit a record as the ASPI rose 289.69 points (1.45%) to close at 20,218 on turnover of Rs. 9.54bn. Banks led activity (bank sector +2.78%), with top contributors including COMB, DFCC, LOLC, NTB and SAMP.

Ishara Nanayakkara has become Sri Lanka’s richest person in 2025 with an estimated net worth of about USD 1.6 billion, overtaking Dhammika Perera; Nanayakkara is chairman of LOLC Holdings, a diversified financial services and investment group.

LOLC Finance PLC's Islamic finance unit LOLC Al-Falaah won five Gold awards at the 14th SLIBFI Awards 2025, including Islamic Financial Entity of the Year, NBFI of the Year and Window of the Year. The unit also won Best Digital Product (i-Pay) and a Social Upliftment award, underscoring its digital and inclusion efforts.

LOLC Finance PLC's Wadi'ah Gold Storage Facility has surpassed a Rs. 3 billion benevolent cash-advance portfolio. The facility offers up to 90% cash advances against stored gold and the company plans technology-driven cash-advance and settlement enhancements.

LOLC Finance (LOFC) will repurchase 3,519,065,138 shares at Rs.6 each (≈Rs.21.1bn), equal to a 10.6% stake, with the offer running from 30 June to 8 July. The regulator has allowed the proposal to proceed subject to other regulatory requirements; LOFC noted it is currently non-compliant with minimum public holding.
