Darley Butler bought 15 million York Arcade shares for Rs.198 million, raising its holding to 15.9m shares (10.6%). Darley Butler is a subsidiary of E.B. Creasy (EBCR); Lankem Ceylon (LCEY) holds a 50.15% controlling stake after buying from Colombo Fort Land & Building (CFLB).

E.B. Creasy invested a further Rs.400 million in subsidiary Lanka Special Steels (Rs.300m via ordinary shares and Rs.100m debt-to-equity conversion) and later said it would convert Rs.400m of debt into 29.3m shares at Rs.13.65; negotiations to sell the stake to Laxapana PLC are ongoing.
LAUGFS Gas and LAUGFS Power shares surged (LAUGFS Gas voting +65.42% to Rs.66.50; LAUGFS Power non-voting +63% to Rs.14.20) after reports of a 50:50 partnership with Vallibel Three (Dhammika Perera). Meanwhile the ASPI fell 0.4% to 20,906 with declines led by HNB, COMB, DFCC, CINS and JKH; turnover leaders included RIL, CTHR and EBCR.
The Colombo market closed with the ASPI at 20,992, up 16 points, on turnover of Rs.5.6 billion; weekly ASPI and S&P SL20 fell 0.03% and 1.19% respectively. Property, capital-goods and consumer services stocks led turnover while select hotels and developers saw mixed flows and sizable corporate stake transactions were reported.
E.B. Creasy & Co. PLC's public float rose to 26.43% as at 29 Aug after Colombo Fort Land & Building PLC sold 5.0m shares on 6 Aug and 1.5m shares on 27 Aug, increasing liquidity and moving the company above the CSE minimum public float threshold.
Colombo market closed marginally up as the ASPI rose 0.2% (47 points) on turnover of Rs.7.46 bn while the S&P SL20 fell 0.2%. Dialog, Ambeon, Bukit Darah, Carson Cumberbatch and LOLC led gains, with EB Creasy, Sierra Cables, LVL Energy Fund and Raigam Wayamba also active and recording price gains.
