Colombo market closed higher for a second straight session, with the ASPI up 0.11% to 22,844.23 and the S&P SL20 up 0.20% to 6,311.30. Market turnover was over Rs.3.4bn (38% below the monthly average), foreign investors were net sellers of Rs.124.56m, policy rates were maintained and investors showed interest in hotel counters; key movers included HNB, DOCK, DIMO, AEL and PKME.
Colombo Stock Exchange ASPI rose 24.32 points to 22,844.23 as turnover fell to LKR 3.44 billion. Top contributors included Kerner Haus (CPRT) which jumped 124.50 rupees to 780.50 after signing a property management deal, and gains in HNB, DOCK, DIMO, AEL and PKME.
ASPI fell 1.47% to 22,644.88, a five-week low, while the S&P SL20 dropped 1.33% to 6,279.71. Declines in banks and blue-chips led losses (notably HNB, RICH, NDB, SAMP and JKH); turnover was Rs.4.95bn with foreigners net buying ~Rs.83.2m and heavy activity in Hemas, DOCK and York.
Colombo bourse closed marginally down as the ASPI fell 0.09% (21.80 pts) to 23,029.86 on turnover of over Rs. 3.8bn and net foreign outflow of Rs. 4.7m. Major negative contributors included Commercial Bank, Dialog, Colombo Dockyard, DFCC and NDB, while J.F. Packaging rose on debut.

Colombo's ASPI closed at a record 23,112.38, up 0.69% (158.99 pts), while the S&P SL20 rose 0.98% to 6,310.26 on turnover over Rs. 6 billion; SFCL, NDB, DOCK, JKH and CTHR were key positive contributors.
CSE All Share Index rose 0.69% (158.99 pts) to 23,112.48 as buying on positive company results lifted the market. Top contributors were Senkadagala Finance, NDB, Colombo Dockyard, John Keells and C T Holdings, with turnover rising to 6.06 billion.

Colombo Dockyard Plc (DOCK.N0000) signed its largest-ever shipbuilding contract to build two cable-laying and repair vessels for French operator Orange Marine. The 100m, BV-classed eco-friendly vessels will boost CDPLC's export earnings and strengthen its presence in the European market.
The ASPI briefly crossed an all-time high of 23,000 before dipping and closed at 22,953.49, up 0.11% (25.18 points). Turnover topped Rs.4.4bn with net foreign outflows of ~Rs.485.4m and heavy participation in counters including Aitken Spence, Colombo Dockyard, Sunshine and Commercial Bank.
CSE ASPI closed up 0.11% at 22,953.49 while the S&P SL20 dipped 0.05% to 6,249.28. Top contributors were Senkadagala Finance (up 25%), Sunshine Holdings, Colombo Dockyard, Cargills and Aitken Spence, with market turnover down to 4.4 billion rupees.
ASPI closed up 0.27% (62.41 pts) to 22,839.53 as HNW-led buying and large crossings in ATL, JKH and DOCK supported the recovery. Turnover was Rs.7.78bn with a net foreign outflow of Rs.857m; capital goods, insurance and retailing led activity.
Sri Lanka's ASPI rose 0.27% to 22,839.53 while the S&P SL20 fell 0.13% to 6,202.71; top contributors were Ceylinco Holdings, Colombo Dockyard, Singer (Sri Lanka), Ceylon Grain Elevators and Diesel & Motor Engineering. Market turnover rose to 7.78 billion rupees and spot gold traded at $4,010.92.

Colombo Dockyard PLC will proceed with a Rs.13 billion rights issue of 323,365,158 new shares at Rs.40 (nine new for every two held) after shareholder approval. Proceeds are intended to shore up working capital amid severe financial constraints, and unsubscribed shares are to be allotted to Mazagon subject to a special resolution.

Colombo Dockyard PLC said the Securities and Exchange Commission has deferred a planned trading suspension until 11 December 2025. The suspension, due to take effect on 10 September 2025, followed two placements on the CSE Watch List after emphasis-of-matter going-concern notes for 2023 and 2024.
