Cargills (Ceylon) PLC and C T Holdings PLC sold a combined 10.05% stake in Cargills Bank PLC (6.05% for Rs.509.3m and 4% for Rs.337.5m) with trades between Rs.8.90–9.70. The Central Bank has ordered the Cargills group to cut its voting stake in the bank to 15% by end-2029.
CT Land Development PLC appointed Chulantha Wickramaratne, former Auditor General (2019–2025), as an Independent Non-Executive Director. Wickramaratne has also held independent directorships at CT Holdings PLC and Cargills (Ceylon) PLC.
Colombo market fell as the ASPI dropped 0.38% (91.22 pts) to 23,900.89 with turnover over Rs.6.9bn and foreign net outflow of Rs.20.9m. Top negatives included Senkadagala Finance, Ceylon Tobacco, John Keells, Carson Cumberbatch and C T Holdings while Prime Lands Residencies gained.
The ASPI closed at 23,992.11, up 0.13% (31.95 pts) after hitting an intraday high of 24,068.22, with turnover over Rs.6.9bn and foreign net outflows of Rs.480.2m. Capital goods led turnover (Rs.1.91bn) with John Keells and ACL Cables among top contributors while market breadth remained weak.
The Colombo market hit an intraday record of 24,052.06 but closed flat, with the ASPI down 0.01% at 23,953.09 and the S&P SL20 up 0.20% at 6,663.12. Turnover was over Rs.5.4bn; York jumped 24.81% while SAMP, RICH, DFCC, CTHR and CARG were top negative contributors.

Colombo Stock Exchange rose 0.10% to close the ASPI at 23,731.60 on Friday, led by gains in Commercial Bank, DFCC Bank, C T Holdings, Namunukula Plantations and Co-operative Insurance. Market turnover fell to Rs4.7bn from Rs9.2bn, with banks and capital goods among key contributing sectors.
CT Smith said the Colombo bourse hit record highs in 2025, with the ASPI up 42% YoY to 22,624 and the S&P SL20 up 27% YoY to 6,157. Net foreign outflow was Rs. 38,563mn, average daily turnover rose to Rs. 5,181mn, with net foreign buying in DIAL, PKME and RICH and selling in JKH, CTHR and HNB.

Cargills Bank PLC proposed a Rs. 2.5 billion rights issue of 294,200,000 new ordinary voting shares at Rs. 8.50 each (14 new for every 45 held) to boost capital and support lending, subject to CSE, SEC and shareholder approvals. Major shareholders Cargills (Ceylon) PLC and C T Holdings PLC hold 37.09% and 23.62% respectively.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met film distributors and producers on the 26th and offered solutions to industry issues, including VAT payment irregularities. The industry said it recorded its highest-ever revenue in 2025 and sought continued government support.

Odeon Holdings bought 5.54 million CT Holdings shares at Rs.650 each (2.7%), raising its stake to 45.94%. Last week CT Holdings saw 6.1 million shares trade for Rs.4 billion, with related director sales of about 3 million shares; the stock closed at Rs.688.50.
